I received this guitar just over a week ago and so far am very impressed. It comes with a good quality hard case and other nice little touches of a lead and a plectrum too. Out of the case the action was a little high for my own tastes (soon resolved) and I had some problems keeping it in tune initially. However its been absolutely fine since I restrung it so I'm guessing the old strings were near the end of their useful life. I first properly used the guitar at a rehearsal for my band, The Retrobeats and it sounds great through my Fender Hotrod Deluxe valve amp. There is good clarity across the strings and the Bigsby style bar doesn't upset the tuning more than would be acceptable and then you have to hammer it. There is a lot of tonal variation in the pickups and volume/tone pots and the pickups have a nice attack to them. I would say they are relatively low output and I generally go for a 90% clean sound but overdriving the amp works very well too with this guitar. Build quality is pretty good - ok, maybe not the absolute top of the range but this is a £300 guitar including the case and side by side with a (say) Gretsch 5120 there isn't a lot of difference except the price! I had a 5120 a couple of years back and I can't say it was any better than the Skylark and the Gretsch was a pig to keep in tune, which is is why it has long since disappeared over the eBay horizon. So, all in all, very pleased with the guitar and kudos to James (MrShazzar) too on YouTube for making this guitar sound so good. I notice they are currently out of stock of this guitar but if when they are available again and you're considering one, go for it.
A graceful Semi with Flamed Maple maple top and distinctive shallow cutaways. Great Mellow sounds from this thinline semi with a more than passing resemblance to some well known 60's models. Complete with fitted hard case and all the style could wish for
This attractive compact semi- acoustic has good natural tone and smooth, mellow amplified tones. Unique "deco"style cutouts and tortoiseshell coloured bindings give it unique looks. An easily handled archtop semi with a jazz pedigree. Tasty.
The return of another old favourite to stock. A compact semi-acoustic archtop with a wide range of applications. Classic colour and styling. Plugged in matches its bigger bodied models - good jazz tones , strident blues/rock tones. A great semi instrument in a compact package.
